“Noticeable impact on our engagement”: How WSA Content & Comms Plus supported Squash Wales

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) launched Content & Comms Plus in December 2022, with Squash Wales becoming the seventh member organisation to utilise the service in April 2024.

Designed to offer members tailored support across social media channels and website articles, as well as support at a key event each year, Content & Comms Plus has been both “useful and important” for Squash Wales according to Russell Edwards, the organisation’s Office and Business Manager.

“The Content & Comms Plus package has provided Squash Wales with comprehensive support in managing our online presence and communications,” he explained to us.

The WSA’s support for Squash Wales included a monthly social media planner and 20 posts each week across the organisation’s X, Facebook and Instagram channels.

Social media activity ranged from the promotion of Squash Wales events and courses to tracking and broadcasting players’ progress at international tournaments, and much in between.

“It ensured consistent engagement with our audience,” stated Russell, “and kept everything fresh and relevant, helping us communicate effectively with our community.

“It’s all been timely, well-researched, and aligned with our goals, making a noticeable impact on our engagement.”

Within two months of Squash Wales taking up the service, the organisation’s Facebook reach had increased by nearly 170% with content interactions increasing by over 375%, content interactions and profile visits on Instagram had grown by over 850% and nearly 85% respectively, while on X, impressions had increased by 130% and likes had gone up by nearly 260%.

The WSA’s Communications and Policy Officer, Max Parsons, delivers the Content & Comms Plus service and supported at the Welsh Junior Open in September.

“The support at the Welsh Junior Open was incredibly useful and important for Squash Wales,” Russell told us. “It allowed us to deliver a professional and engaging experience, both for those attending in person and for our online audience.

“The pre-event promotion helped generate excitement and awareness, while the live social media activity and match results updates kept everyone engaged in real-time.

“The support provided by Max has been highly effective,” he continued. “He has helped streamline our communications, improved our online presence, and ensured that our key messages reach our audience consistently.

“Overall, the Content & Comms Plus package has been an asset to Squash Wales, and I appreciate the professionalism and dedication of Max and the WSA team,” Russell concluded. “Thank you for the excellent service!”
