Tri Dewi – Triathlon Cymru
Tri Dewi is a nationwide celebration of Welsh triathlon, activity and community funded by the Welsh Government
Tri Dewi is a nationwide celebration of Welsh triathlon, activity and community. Taking place around St David’s Day, the project brings together clubs, leisure centres, schools and individuals across Wales to get active in whatever way suits them.
Tri Dewi is about participation, pride and connection. You don’t need to be a triathlete to take part, just a willingness to move and celebrate our beautiful Welsh country and culture.
Club Activity
Tri Dewi events are being delivered by triathlon clubs across Wales, each putting their own stamp on the celebration. These are bite-sized fun events with 2 or 3 of the elements of Swim Bike and Run. It’s a relaxed, friendly way to have fun, try something new, and celebrate your Welsh identity through triathlon.

Other Ways to Get Involved
There are lots of ways to be part of Tri Dewi, wherever you are and however you like to be active.
Virtual Challenge
Our Virtual Welsh National Championship organiser, Henry, is setting up a Zwift virtual event on 1st March, open to everyone. This is a great way to take part from home or indoors.
Zwift virtual link coming soon.
You can also celebrate Wales through movement by heading out on a ride, run or walk inspired by Welsh culture and landmarks.
Take a photo during your activity, whether it’s with a Welsh landmark or simply out enjoying your session and share it on your stories or socials.
Tag @triathloncymru and use #TriDewi so we can share your efforts.
Leisure Centre Distance Challenge
Leisure centres across Wales are getting involved with the Tri Dewi Distance Challenge. From 23 February – 1 March, if you spot a Tri Dewi Distance Challenge poster in your local leisure centre, we’re asking you to:
- Record the exercise you’ve completed (bike, treadmill, rower, ski-erg etc.)
- Log the distance covered on the centre’s log sheet or whiteboard
We’ll then total the distances to see how far each leisure centre has travelled collectively for Tri Dewi.
Schools Getting Involved
We’re encouraging primary schools across Wales to take part in Tri Dewi in any way that works for them, from ‘Little Things’ pledges to 60 minute PE activity.
If you’d like your primary school to get involved, please ask them to get in touch: [email protected]
Let’s move together and celebrate Wales this St David’s Day.
