Wales vs Netherlands – UEFA Nations League

Having been promoted to League A after an unbeaten and table-topping campaign in the 2020/21 edition of the UEFA Nations League, Wales embark on a tough adventure in the top tier starting with a trip to Poland before returning home to play in front of their own fans.

Rob Page’s men play Netherlands at the Cardiff City Stadium on June 8th, before hosting the highest ranked nation in the world, Belgium, in the capital three days later.

The evening of June 8th might not bring with it joy, however. In eight prior meetings, Wales have never managed to beat the Netherlands, losing each time with an aggregate score of 24-5.

The fixtures come during a hectic June, in which Wales will also play their World Cup Play-Off final, deciding whether they’ll be travelling to Qatar at the end of the year or not.

While the Red Dragons’ priorities during this congested period of fixtures will be clear, Nations League success must not be dismissed with the competition’s links to improved chance of receiving a route to World Cup and European Championship qualification next time out.
