World Cup Fan Zone – Newport (Rodney Parade)

Welsh football fans can look forward to enjoying all the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 action at Rodney Parade this month after it was named an Official Fan Zone for the tournament.

We are delighted to announce that our stadium – home to both Dragons RFC and Newport County – will host a Fan Zone, in conjunction with Newport City Council.

Wales have qualified for a World Cup for the first time since 1958 and now fans can come together at Rodney Parade to watch Rob Page’s team and enjoy all the action on a big screen.

We will be hosting the official Fan Zone on the following dates:

  • Monday, November 21 – USA vs Wales (kick-off 7pm)
  • Tuesday, November 29 – Wales vs England (kick-off 7pm)

On both days the Fan Zone will open earlier in the day so fans can watch all the action from Qatar.

The Fan Zone on Monday, November 21 will also be showing England vs Iran (kick-off 1pm) and Senegal vs Netherlands (kick-off 4pm) before the Wales game. The Fan Zone on this date will be running alongside a separate Evening of Sport taking place inside the stadium.

The Fan Zone on November 29 will also be opening early to show the Netherlands vs Qatar / Ecuador vs Senegal games (kick-off 3pm).

Entry to each day is just £5 and tickets can be booked below:

The Fan Zone will show the games live on a big outdoor screen and be supported by live music on both dates from Tinty & the Bucket Hates.

A wide range of bar sand food outlets will also be open on both dates.

A Community event for local schools is due to be held on Friday, November 25 for the Wales vs Iran fixture (kick-off 10am).

Councillor Jane Mudd, Leader of Newport City Council, said: “I know many Wales supporters were calling for a Fan Zone in the city, so I’m pleased that we are able to support this event. I’m also delighted that local schoolchildren will also be offered the opportunity to watch their heroes.

“It’s been a long wait to see the national team reach the World Cup and we will be cheering them on at every match – ‘together stronger’ all the way.”

Mark Jones, Managing Director at Dragons RFC, added: “We’re thrilled to work with Newport City Council to host an Official Fan Zone at Rodney Parade.

“It’s going to be an historic tournament for Wales, and we look forward to welcoming fans to our home to unite together to watch the World Cup on a big screen with food, drinks and big-game atmosphere.”

Further event details for both dates will be posted on www.dragonsrugby.wales
