How can the WSA support you?

How can the WSA support you?

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is the independent umbrella body representing and supporting the sport and leisure sector in Wales. That representation and support for our membership base stems from the plethora of services and member benefits we provide, relating to anything from advocacy to business continuity.

If you’re a UK organisation that runs sporting events, fitness sessions, leisure classes or club matches in Wales, the WSA would be happy to support you with the whole host of resources we offer.

What does the WSA do?

As representatives for the sport & leisure sector, the WSA work collaboratively with organisations throughout the UK and Wales – including key strategic partners like Sport Wales, Welsh Government, the Welsh Council for Voluntary Action and Community Leisure UK.

For our mission of a completely “Active, Vibrant Nation” – and for a society that’s fit for the future – to become reality, we ensure that the entirety of the sporting sector is provided with a foundation upon which long-term success can be guaranteed. With that in mind, the WSA ensures that its support services are designed and continuously improved with its members’ specific needs at the heart of its thinking, so that the sport and leisure industry here in Wales is et up for a string future.

If you’re reading this and are based outside of Wales, though, don’t think we can’t be of service!

As long as you’re an organisation or body with presence and activity in Wales, the WSA will happily welcome you to the ever-increasing list of members.

The WSA team can advise on the specific regulatory landscape in Wales as well as a whole host of other issues relating to the sport and leisure sector in the country. The WSA are here to make sure you can operate effectively and efficiently in Wales and play your part in encouraging a more “Active, Vibrant Nation”.

What support does WSA membership provide?

Where to start…

We offer an extensive list of services to members, with advocacy and policy as well as business support for those providing a healthier future to Wales at the heart of our mission.

From political monitoring and COVID-19 support to member partnerships, preferential rates and governance templates, the WSA provides a whole host of popular services – such as its hugely competitive and utilised DBS checking service for sport and leisure.

The WSA’s core membership offer will also be experiencing some improvements in the immediate and near future, as part of our mission to continuously strive for better in the sporting sector. We have already brought aboard two new partners – 2buy2, who will provide with members a fantastic procurement offer, and CalQRisk, who, as governance, risk and compliance experts, will be able to support members through their Sport Wales Governance and Leadership Framework- and Capability Framework-aligned solution.

Stay tuned for further details about all of the planned improvements to our membership offer!

Please visit out Member Benefits page to view the currently existing core membership offer.

WSA Membership Plus

We don’t stop the support at the core membership offer, though!

April saw the launch of Membership plus, an extension on standard member benefits designed to drive and improve our support services.

Membership Plus comprises of two add-on packages (Advocacy Plus and Finance Plus), containing a selection of focussed and cost-effective services with the intention of optimising organisational efficiency and capacity where members require it most.

It must be noted that this new service is already nearly at capacity, so we’d like to give a huge thank you to those that have signed up already and remind everyone else to act fast if either Finance Plus or Advocacy Plus is of interest to your organisation!
