Local insurance broker Howden is new name for Watkin Davies, marking next chapter

Howden is the new name for Watkin Davies, as the local insurance brokerage officially reveals its new brand.

The rebrand marks the next chapter for Watkin Davies, now Howden, after becoming a part of the Howden Group three years ago. United by a shared people-first ethos, the union is a perfect match, and the new name reflects the local branch’s part in the Howden family, harnessing the collective power of the Group.

Founded in 1994 by David Howden, he set out on a mission to build an insurance business that had clients at the heart of everything it did, and that could be owned by the people that work in it. Howden has since grown to be one of the UK’s largest independent insurance brokers, with offices all over the world serving local people, locally.

Darren Mercer, Development Manager, Howden Cardiff said: “As we unveil our new brand and Howden celebrates its 30th year, we are excited to mark this new chapter, continuing to bring the best insurance expertise to our clients, while growing through the power of a united brand.

“The Howden culture has not changed since David started the business; its client focus means it is the perfect home – and name – for Watkin Davies. It’s the same great people, and same great service, now with a brand-new name and look in branch, that’s fit for the future!”

To thank WSA member clients and the community for their support, and introduce them to the new name, look out for events coming in the following months across the Cardiff, Newport and Ystrad Mynach branches.

Darren Mercer, continued: “We’re still a local insurance broker, focused on supporting the sport and leisure sector in Wales. Our expert advisors are empowered with no limits to do their best for the WSA membership and show the force for good we know insurance can be.

“Our upcoming events are our way of saying thank you to our existing clients, and answer any questions they may have, and we look forward to looking after them for many years to come as Howden.”
