Magic Little Grants by Localgiving

Magic Little Grants has returned for 2022 and, following the Localgiving programme’s success previously, is set to be bigger and better than ever before!

Localgiving is a charity whose mission is to strengthen UK communities by safeguarding the sustainability of the local voluntary sector. They do this by supporting local charitable organisations to diversify their income through online fundraising.

Providing tools, training and advice to help local groups connect with supporters online, improving their digital skills and developing practical fundraising experience, Localgiving is also a leading advocate for the sector and works to raise awareness and support for local groups from the public, government and businesses.

Since Localgiving launched in 2009, over £24m has been raised and distributed to its members, including £3.5m in match funding and £400k in grants – some of which has been spread via the Magic Little Grants programme, which is now in its fifth year of running!

And this year, Localgiving is expecting to distribute more funding through the programme than ever, aiming to award £500 grants to 2,650 charitable organisations (compared to the 2,000 that received grants last year) in collaboration with the People’s Postcode Lottery.

If your organisation is carrying out a project within the following themes, make sure to get your application in – the programme is now live!

  • Improving mental wellbeing
  • Enabling community participation in the arts
  • Preventing or reducing the impact of poverty
  • Supporting marginalised groups and promoting equality
  • Improving biodiversity and green spaces
  • Enabling participation in physical activity
  • Responding to the climate emergency and promoting sustainability
  • Increasing community access to outdoor space

The application process is short and simple, taking ten minutes to complete. Each organisation may only apply once in 2022.

Organisations must either be in their first year of operation or have an annual income under £250,000. Funding can be used to launch new projects, support existing ones, or cover core costs associated with ongoing work.

Please note that schools are eligible to apply if they are a registered charity. Groups in Northern Ireland are not eligible to apply for this funding.

If you have been awarded a Magic Little Grant in previous years, you will need to have completed and returned your monitoring forms for those years before you can receive another grant.

Please note that Welsh Sports Association members receive 25% off a 12 month Localgiving membership (pay just £72 instead of £96)!
