Following the WSA’s announced at the end of July that it would be launching a new Disclosure and Barring Checking Service, it has been ‘inundated’ by requests to join the service. The service, which will go live on 3rd October, will be open the whole of the third sector as well as its Sport and Recreation members.
“We are delighted that our new service has been received so well by organisations from across the third sector. In fact, 50% of our clients have come from outside of the sports sector’ says Victoria Ward, WSA. ‘We have really listened to our own members in sport and colleagues from across the third sector and believe that, in response, we have created an affordable and comprehensive service, that will offer a seamless transition as the Criminal Records Unit at the WCVA, sadly closes its doors at the end of September’ Added Victoria.
WSA Background Screening Services, will be provided in partnership with CBS Services, Pontypridd based background screening company, one of the largest in the UK. The service will provide an online, easy to use system for a wide range of organisations. This service will also have a dedicated Welsh language portal available from January 2017, the first and only one of its kind. A fully bilingual, Freephone helpline will also be available for all users of the system when it opens for business on 3rd October.
The administration charge per check, for the third sector, will be £5.50. A discounted rate of £4.50 per check will also be offered to WSA members. More information on WSA membership can be found here https://wsa.wales/membership/membership-fees/.
