Remembering the WSA Sports Industry Awards 2023

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) would like to once again thank everyone who made the inaugural WSA Sports Industry Awards 2023 such a special occasion earlier this month.

It was wonderful to reunite with a whole host of members, partners and colleagues from around Welsh sport and leisure, to celebrate the very best in our sector.

As we move on from such a successful event, the WSA would like to remember and recognise the excellent and vital work we were celebrating that night.

To do so, the WSA will be showcasing all 24 nominees over the coming fortnight, highlighting the brilliant work that the WSA membership base carries out behind the sporting scenes.

While only eight came away from the Parkgate Hotel with trophies, it’s pivotal to recognise the importance of each nominee’s work across a wide range of areas, from sustainability to inclusion.

The projects and campaigns on display on June the 8th not only lead the sport and leisure sector by example but also contribute to wider societal well-being goals.

Therefore, from Monday to Thursday in both the week commencing the 26th of June and the week commencing the 3rd of July, all three nominees from each award category will be showcased on the WSA’s Twitter page.

“The whole team here at the WSA is so grateful to everyone who ensured that the inaugural WSA Sports Industry Awards were such a success,” commented WSA CEO Andrew Howard.

“We were thrilled to host such a brilliant and inspiring celebration of the work that happens off the pitch, and often behind closed doors, in sport and leisure across Wales. In hosting this event and showcasing the very best of our members, we were not only enhancing Welsh sport, but also demonstrating that sport is a great vehicle to enhance Wales and to achieve its well-being goals.

“So, it’s crucial to remember and spread the best practice shared courtesy of our fantastic nominees, which is why we’re continuing to give them a platform as we remember such a fantastic evening!”

The wonderful and positive atmosphere at the event was noticed by many.

“The event also served as a great platform to collaborate and catch up with members, partners, Sport Wales and the Welsh Government,” Howard concluded, “and the high-spirits and togetherness of the sector that evening was tangible.”

Make sure to keep an eye out for all the WSA Sports Industry Awards 2023 nominees’ work on the WSA Twitter page over the next two weeks!
