Sion Jones

Business Support Officer

As of October, I am excited to take on the role of Business Support Officer at the WSA, where I support our bilingual DBS service and training courses. Prior to joining the WSA, I worked at Ocean Park Arena. My responsibilities included managing the infant phase (U6-9s) of the Cardiff and Vale Schools Football Association program, organizing and running local county football tournaments and events, as well as overseeing the holiday camp program, which attracted over 1,000 players during the summer of 2024.

I am a fluent Welsh speaker and previously served as a Sports Community Officer for Urdd Gobaith Cymru in the Vale of Glamorgan. In that role, I collaborated with local authorities and schools to enhance community participation by providing after-school clubs in every Welsh-language school in the area, alongside supporting local community clubs.

This season, I will continue coaching with the Cardiff & Vale Schools Football Association as the head coach for the foundation phase squads (U10 & U11s). My focus will be on creating a challenging and enjoyable environment to foster player development within the county program.

Beyond football, I have experience playing and coaching various sports, including boxing and squash, and I hold official coaching qualifications in nine different sports. In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, walking my dog and following the Welsh national football team home and away. I look forward to collaborating closely with national governing bodies and WSA members to ensure Welsh sport remains safe and thriving.
