Table Tennis Wales is seeking an experienced, strategic and forward-thinking individual to join our Board of Directors as Director of Finance (Non-Executive Director). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial stewardship and strategic leadership of a dynamic National Governing Body and help shape the sustainable future of table tennis in Wales.

We now have a vacancy that offers a valuable opportunity for someone wishing to apply or further develop their experience in board-level financial leadership within the sports sector.

About the Role

The Director of Finance will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial health, sustainability and governance of Table Tennis Wales. Working closely with the Chair, Board and executive team, the postholder will provide strategic financial insight, ensuring robust financial planning, risk management and accountability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing financial oversight and scrutiny at Board level
  • Supporting the development and monitoring of budgets and long-term financial plans
  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls, compliance and governance frameworks are in place
  • Advising on financial risk, sustainability and investment decisions
  • Supporting the preparation and review of annual accounts and audit processes
  • Contributing to wider organisational strategy as a Non-Executive Director

The time commitment for this voluntary role is approximately 1–2 days per month, which includes attending Board meetings as well as relevant working groups, consultations, and key events.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who can bring strong financial expertise, strategic thinking and sound judgement to the Board.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly valuable:

  • Finance leadership (e.g. CFO, Finance Director, senior finance professional)
  • Financial governance, audit or risk management
  • Budgeting, financial planning and organisational sustainability
  • Experience as a Non-Executive Director or Trustee (desirable but not essential)

A relevant financial qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) would be advantageous.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can provide independent oversight, constructive challenge and contribute to effective decision-making at Board level.
