Welsh Universities Men’s Hockey Head Coach

Welsh Student Sport (WSS) is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational, and committed Head Coach for the Welsh Universities Men’s Hockey team. The successful applicant will be expected to select and take a Welsh Universities team to compete against English Universities Sport and Scottish Student Sport in the summer of 2025, coaching them at training sessions in the lead up.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- To coordinate and lead on the trials process.
- Working with the National Team Manager and Sport Team Manager with regards to the planning and organisation of squad selection.
- To plan, lead and deliver effective and high-quality training sessions.
- Communicate with the Sport Team Manager to ensure the provision of squad training / competition requirements.
- Carry out coaching duties prior to and for the duration of the summer events.
- Providing player support and development.

Essential
- Appropriate and valid coaching qualifications.
- Experience of leading within a high-performance squad.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Effective people and time management skills.
- Ability to deliver training sessions to a high standard.
- Holds an athlete centred approach.
- A high quality and proven record.
- Shows integrity and is fair, equitable and ethical in approach.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the Welsh Universities structure.
