We are pleased to announce that Kate Evans has joined the Welsh Sports Association as Communications Manager. A Welsh speaker, Kate has worked in strategic communications for nearly 15 years and has a strong background in political advocacy, having worked as a senior consultant for some of Wales’ leading public affairs agencies.
A communications graduate, Kate comes to us from Sport Wales where she led on advocacy and government relations. Kate is a big cricket fan and also a coach and safeguarding officer for a local junior rugby team.
Kate said “I’m thrilled by the opportunity to work for the WSA. Sport is integral to the Welsh culture and way of life, and it has such a powerful impact on improving lives. As the umbrella organisation for Governing Bodies, the WSA has a pivotal role to play in amplifying the collective voice of the sector so that the true value of sport is understood more widely. I’m looking forward to reaching out to WSA members so that together we can develop a communications and advocacy strategy that has the aims of sector at its heart.”
WSA Chair, Helen Humphrey, said “It’s been a very exciting time for Welsh sport in recent years, and the sector needs to build on this success to ensure that it continues in the future. Our mission at the WSA is to empower, equip and inspire our member organisations to be stronger, more successful and sustainable. As part of our continued growth, this new role will play a vital part in developing and expanding on the WSA’s business support services for our members. Kate’s appointment means that we can help create an even bigger platform for our members to showcase their achievements, and evidence the unique contribution that sport makes to the nation.”
