The WSA appoints Joymo as exclusive livestreaming partner

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA), the membership body for the sport and leisure industry in Wales, has today announced an exclusive multi-year relationship with leading live video streaming platform, Joymo.

The pioneering sports streaming service becomes the WSA’s Official Livestreaming Partner and will work closely with the WSA’s members to accelerate their direct-to-fan streaming ambitions.

Joymo’s live video streaming platform is for athletes, teams and sports, at every level of competition, enabling them to broadcast their content direct to fans who can watch live or on demand. Content creators can generate revenue from their content by charging supporters per game, competition or event or offer a longer-term ‘season ticket’.

Through innovative technology – including a dedicated app, an over-the-top streaming platform and a 4K HD automatic action-tracking camera – Joymo enables content creators to livestream sport directly to fans, athletes, coaches, referees and scouts.

Joymo places safeguarding, secure data management and GDPR compliance at the heart of its product, removing the risk for grassroots and longtail sport. An integral part of its streaming platform is secure storage of all content and data in accordance with national privacy regulations and GDPR.

Commenting on the partnership, Victoria Ward, Chief Executive of the WSA, said:

“The WSA is always looking to partner with service providers who can add tangible value to our members and we firmly believe Joymo can have a transformational impact in a post-Covid environment. We were impressed by the simplicity, quality and cost-effective nature of the platform and feel that this will encourage our members to sign-up and start streaming as soon as sport returns.”

“The potential revenue generation for some members and their stakeholders is huge and that can be significant in helping many sports clubs, leagues and competitions become financially sustainable after the devastating impact of the Covid pandemic. Joymo’s focus on safeguarding, secure data management and GDPR compliance is also impressive and should provide peace-of-mind to all users.”

Discussing the collaboration. Mike Emery, CEO of Joymo, said:

“We’re delighted to be teaming-up with the Welsh Sports Association and working closely with them and their members. Joymo is all about empowering sports organisers and participants, at all levels, by providing them with the tools and technology to broadcast directly to their fans. Joymo not only helps them to generate revenues – but provides them with ownership of all advertising, sponsorship and user data.

“So many smaller federations, clubs and leagues aren’t realising the value of their content and often give it to free social media platforms who then own the data and the advertising income from its viewers. The Joymo model is based on the premise that when the content owners succeed the platform provider succeeds, and that’s exactly as it should be”

Joymo was founded in Norway in late-2017 and soon after launched its remote broadcasting camera solution – the Joymo LiveCaster Pro. The third-generation model of the automated 4K HD camera was launched in early 2020 allowing federations, facilities, leagues and clubs to film or livestream games and/or training sessions in a safe, secure way. Joymo has also developed the Joymo Share app which gives content creators the opportunity to livestream directly from their smartphone or tablet.

In March 2020, Joymo launched its live streaming solution: Joymo Arena. All video content generated through the LiveCaster Pro and the Joymo app is processed by the streaming platform and optimised for the best viewer experience.

In the last year, Joymo has successfully launched into the UK and Ireland having worked exclusively with sports clubs, associations and federations since its launch. Chief among its new partnerships was a deal with Basketball Ireland to stream over 200 men and women’s Superleague matches during the 2020/21 season.
