WSA attend BGC Wales Drop-In Day at The Lodge

On Wednesday 20 December 2023 the Welsh Sports Association (WSA) supported a “Drop-in Day” at the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Wales Outdoor Activity Centre, The Lodge.

The Lodge Outdoor Activity Centre is based in Bettws, Bridgend, and was taken over by GBC Wales through an asset transfer. It boasts accommodation for 32 children and 8 leaders.

A meeting room and a kitchen ensures that groups have everything they need for an enjoyable sporting or recreational experience. With sports facilities, mountains, rivers and the sea all within an hour’s drive, it’s an excellent base for a range of outdoor activities.

The WSA was thrilled to be able to attend the day and support member BGC Wales. Also in attendance and providing their support were fellow members Welsh Cycling, Tennis Wales and Tabel Tennis Wales.

During the day, BGC Wales CEO Grant Poiner discussed plans to develop The Lodge Outdoor Activity Centre further in the new year.

BGC Wales are also undertaking some exciting ventures in 2024, notably an exchange programme with Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of America, offering people aged between 14 and 17 the opportunity to visit the United States.

The WSA is grateful for the opportunity to visit The Lodge, where a lot of fun was had, and a lot of excitement was garnered for the work to come in 2024 from BGC Wales.

The day was also supported by Welsh Cycling, Tennis Wales and Table Tennis Wales, and WSA CEO Andrew Howard managed to fit in a game with Table Tennis Wales CEO Owen Rodgers.
