WSA welcome Mid Wales Sport Partnership as Associate Member
The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is thrilled to welcome the Mid Wales Sport Partnership (MWSP) to the membership base as an Associate Member.
The MWSP was established last year as the third of five regional sports partnerships across Wales, designed to provide strategic leadership, planning and commissioning for sport and physical activity within their areas.
These bodies will see the way in which community sport and physical activity opportunities are planned, delivered and funded across Wales transformed.
Striving to overcome ongoing inequalities in participation in sport and physical activity, the MWSP will help ensure that Mid Wales thrives as an active region where everyone can have a lifelong enjoyment of sport.
As one of the regional Partnerships, the MWSP will:
- Address inequalities in sport participation across Wales.
- Increase the diversity of strategic partners and delivery mechanisms within the regions.
- Assist in ensuring there is the right support and opportunities in place for those who are not regularly physically active – with a clear focus on removing barriers for those who need the most help.
- Help take steps to meet the high demand from those who are active but want to do much more.
- Enable a collective strength, from combining resources, learnings and expertise across each region.
- Give each region the ability to target resources toward those with the greatest need
.
There is already a strong sense of collaboration across the Mid Wales Region.
Gemma previously stated:
“Physical activity plays a powerful role in enhancing wellbeing, and through this partnership, we’ll strengthen regional collaboration with individuals and organisations that share our vision. At the heart of our work will be inclusion and a focus on people’s abilities, and I’m confident that together we can create meaningful, lasting change.”

As a WSA member, the MWSP will aim to take advantage of the far-reaching membership network and wide-ranging member benefits, such as the Finance Plus service.
MWSP Regional Director, Gemma Cutter, commented
“We are delighted to become a member of the WSA. The support we’ve already received has been incredibly valuable to our organisation. The resources and ongoing support available will be essential as we continue to grow and evolve.”
WSA CEO Andrew Howard added:
“We are delighted to welcome the Mid Wales Sport Partnership to our growing membership. Regional partnerships play a crucial role in shaping the future of sport and physical activity in Wales, ensuring that opportunities are inclusive, accessible, and impactful. We look forward to supporting MWSP on their journey and working together to create a more active and healthier Wales.”
