Vice Chair
Fergus was appointed CEO of Swim Wales in April 2016. Tasked with transforming and leading the organisation in a new direction, he was instrumental in the overhaul of all stakeholder engagement to guarantee that everyone bought into the vision and mission of the organisation. He also provided the wider strategy ensuring that all tactics and priorities centred around the delivery of key business objectives. One of his focus areas early on was addressing participation levels, and subsequently created the inclusive pathway from grassroots through to Olympic representation.
As well as representing NGBs in Wales on a daily basis, he brings a wealth of business knowledge coupled with entrepreneurial spirit to the WSA Board. His innovative thinking pushes the wider team to work smarter with the assets available and provides the confidence and moral support to push forward at the right times.
Keen to maximise the potential of any organisation he works with, Fergus understands the value in engaging and building relationships across sectors and often considers these factors more important than the sports themselves.
He has over 20 years’ experience in leading vision-critical business transformation, corporate change management, and high-profile commercial programmes in the private and public sector. Throughout his career he has held senior roles in companies including Nokia, Panasonic, Mitel, Deloitte, The Royal Mint and the CMC Partnership Consultancy as a management consultant. His broad career experience has taken him internationally across Europe, North America, Middle East and Asia.
Fergus also leads the National Governing Body responsible for Welsh Aquatic Sport and joined the British Swimming Board of Directors in November 2016.
