Careers in Sport LIVE
The WSA were delighted to contribute to #CareersInSportLive event at the Principality Stadium on Thursday 8th February.
Careers in Sport LIVE provides young people with the opportunity to see first-hand the diverse roles and responsibilities working within the sport & leisure sector.
Behind every sport and sporting event is an entire support industry comprising professions as diverse as coaches, journalists, photographers, physiotherapists, match officials, nutritionists, therapists, marketers and administrators. There are also swathes of volunteers that prop up the sector with crucial roles and responsibilities.
The event, hosted at the Principality Stadium incorporated workshops in Sports Business, Sports Coaching, Apprenticeships in Sport, Sports Media and Sports Science to highlight the various roles available in Wales.
The WSA’s Commerical Manager Tom Sharp, openend up the morning session on Sports Business. It was an opportunity to share the broad remit of the WSA, and the various roles and current vacancies that the WSA promote across the sector. It was an opportunity to highlight that workforce is becoming a real issue for WSA members and specifically the facility operators; and that there were roles available for the audience to consider.
Tom also highlighted the WSA Volunteer Hub to the 200 students present. The Volunteer Hub was set up with the objective of providing WSA members with crucial support in the running of their events. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for individuals with an interest in sport & leisure to gain valuable sector experience.

The Careers in Sport LIVE event was also a great chance to collaborate with WSA members. The WSA certainly look forward to supporting the event again next year.
