DBS Checks in Sport
The Welsh Sports Association (WSA), via trading arm Vibrant Nation, provides fully bilingual, completely online and competitively priced DBS Checks (Disclosure and Barring Service) for the Sport & Leisure sector as part of our commitment to ensuring that sport and physical activity is safe for everyone to enjoy.
It can be a daunting and uncertain task to know what is specifically needed for each employee or volunteer with regard to the level of check required, whether it be a Basic, Standard, Enhanced or Enhanced with Barred List check – or if any! You can find a wealth of information regarding the DBS process for sport coaches and for leisure staff on the WSA website.
WSA DBS Checking Service for Sport & Leisure
The WSA is the only provider of a fully bilingual system and service in Wales, and even offer a bilingual helpline should you have any questions. Tested and approved by the Ministry of Justice and The Home Office, it has also been endorsed by both Welsh Government and the NSPCC, so rest assured that our service is up-to-date and of the highest quality.
Furthermore, the WSA offer a range of ID verification options, including the Post Office, with a Welsh option for the soon-to-be launched digital identity checks also set to come into action.
The system is entirely web-based and can be accessed from any location, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Unlike paper forms, our online system is robust and practical and won’t allow you to submit an incorrect application. So, once you’ve clicked submit, you only have to wait for the results to come through.
With a growing client base of over 200 organisations, we can provide lower costs through economies of scale, and discounted rates are also a benefit of WSA membership.
Please note that you don’t need to be a member of WSA or even a body in the sporting sector to complete your DBS Check with us. If your organisation is interested in the service, please contact the WSA team or complete the application form on the Vibrant Nation website.
DBS checks are one (very important) part of an organisations wider safeguarding strategy to be used alongside a host of other safeguarding prevention measures. The WSA has a wide range of resources and courses that can aid your organisation in its safeguarding journey – find more information via the safeguarding page of our website.
