An update on DBS Digital Identity Checks

An update on DBS Digital Identity Checks

CBS Screening have provided an update regarding the proposed implementation of digital identity checks to the DBS process.

The accreditation process for the Digital ID suppliers is taking longer than expected. However, the chosen providers, The Post Office, are making great progress ahead of some of the other organisations hoping to achieve swift certification! The Post Office Head of Identity Solutions, Jim Purves, told CBS:

“We are progressing well with certification and the target date for us to be finalised by Friday 6th May is on track.  This will then be submitted to DCMS for approval to be published onto GOV.UK which can take up to two weeks.”

Once the service is approved and able to make live, the option to undertake a digital ID check will appear in your account. The cost for processing a check with the Easy ID Post Office platform is expected to be around £4.50+VAT, which can also include a UK Right to Work Check.

Please remember that the WSA, via trading arm Vibrant Nation, offer very competitively priced administration rates for its DBS Checking Service, making the process cheap and accessible to all that require it!

Additionally, CBS will be integrating with other digital ID providers over the coming months to offer clients alternative processing solutions.

More information will follow over the next few weeks as CBS continue to work closely with the Post Office to implement this exciting enhancement to DBS processing.

Elsewhere, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has launched a new webchat service.

The webchat service provides a way for customers to get answers to general questions in real time from customer service staff, without having to call the customer contact centre.

The service will operate Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, and is available to answer general customer questions, to anyone completing a task such as applying for a DBS check, making a barring referral, or logging into the Update Service.

For answers to specific queries such as the progress of a DBS check, a barring referral dispute, or complaint, customers should contact the customer service team on 03000 200 190 or [email protected]
