Three Welsh Gymnastics clubs benefiting from Allianz Sports Fund
The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is delighted with the fact that a total of eight clubs nominated by our insurance partners Watkin Davies were successful in their Allianz Sports Fund applications earlier this year, including no fewer than three Welsh Gymnastics clubs!
The WSA is thrilled to be able to collaborate with partners to promote investment into our sector, and is delighted to see the success of these efforts.
38 clubs around the UK received grants worth between £500 & £3000 in what was the first round of funding from the grant this year, with 21% of them being nominated by Watkin Davies.
Just under a quarter of all clubs nominated by the WSA’s insurance partner were successful, including Neath Flyers Academy, Wrexham Gymnastics Club, and Deeside Gymnastics Academy who received £1,000, £3,000, and £2,000 respectively.
Phillippa Ceri Langston, Director and Coach at Neath Flyers Academy, said:
“The grant money we received from the Allianz Sports Fund has allowed us to purchase a double mini trampoline. This has helped us to be able to give more children the opportunity to try double mini trampolining, while we have also been able to reduce our waiting list a little.”
Kelly Norgrove, Volunteer Welfare Officer at Wrexham Gymnastics Club, stated:
“Wrexham Gymnastics Club were so pleased to be lucky enough to receive funding from the Allianz Sports Fund.
“This money has given us comfort and additional funds to help with the rising utility costs, during a particularly difficult time. Many families in our local community are members of our club, and we are proud to provide a safe, friendly, fun environment for children of all ages. Without much needed funds to support our club, we would be unable to do this, so thank you.”
Joy Sumner from Deeside Gymnastics Academy commented:
“A massive thank you to Allianz and their partners for the funding we have received. The equipment purchased will as always help our gymnasts and, in turn, develop our new apprentices who have just started their own journey. Thank you from all at Deeside Gymnastics Academy.”
Meanwhile, Siwan Mair, Welsh Gymnastics Executive Director for Development, added:
“It’s great to see clubs accessing community funding that will help to provide more opportunities for children within their communities.”
Your sports club could be next to receive this vital funding!
The second round of the Allianz Sports Fund is now live, with the deadline for applications on the 20th of October.
