Helen Humphrey, a former Vice President of McDonald’s, has been appointed to the board of the WSA. The announcement was made on Monday 4 July at the Welsh Sport Association Annual General Meeting at the Swalec Stadium. Helen’s wealth of experience includes former Vice President of National Operations at McDonalds, former Chair of Sports Wales Advisory Group (SWAG) and a director of the Torfaen Leisure Trust.
“Helen’s commercial acumen will be a major asset to the WSA and I am delighted that Helen has accepted the boards invitation to join us” said Ffion Lloyd, WSA Chair. During her introduction Helen outlined her intention to use her skills to support the WSA in their commercial development and made an impassioned speech about what a huge part sport has played in her own success. During her time at the SWAG Helen was instrumental in the creation of the document which focuses on the future of sport in society, ‘Acting Today for an Active Tomorrow’.
During the AGM, the Annual Report was released, attendees discussed the role advocacy role that WSA plays in the sporting landscape, and it’s new WSA website. Insurance partners was Integro and Sportscover also gave a presentation outlining the progress that has been made, since the announcement of the partnership in April, with WSA members savings of up to 25% on policy fees.
