Merry Christmas from the WSA

Merry Christmas from the WSA

Welsh Sports Association (WSA) members will remember our appeal for support in contributing to Save the Children’s Christmas appeal. We want to thank everyone including staff at Welsh Gymnastics and Sport Wales for their generosity in supporting this alongside us, and share a message with you all.

Phil Draper, who coordinated the donations, wrote:

“Collectively we managed to collect 203 individual gift bags. I dropped these off with Save the Children at the start of December (see attached) who then distributed to the relevant schools, social services and families directly.

“Save the Children, the schools, social services and the families were absolutely overwhelmed with your generosity.

“I wanted to share a short message received from one of the local schools with you, so you could better understand the impact YOU have had this Christmas.

“It is at a time like this, that we as a school often see how challenged many of our families are, and particularly this year with rising costs, fuel and food difficulties. It is hard for me to convey in words how grateful the parents were when receiving the gift bags for their children and the tone in their voices as they thanked us.

‘Small acts of kindness, or in this case, huge acts of generosity can make a big difference, just knowing somebody cares as you navigate a difficult period can be that difference. I really can’t thank you enough for taking part, and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.”

The WSA would like to wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of our members and partners. The office will close today until the 3 January, though we will continue to monitor inboxes for urgent queries and support.
