DBS Price Cut and the WSA Service

DBS Price Cut and the WSA Service

The Disclosure and Barring Service recently announced the decrease in prices for DBS checks – news that makes the service offered by the Welsh Sports Association (WSA) even cheaper!

Who doesn’t love a bargain?

The change will see the price of checks experience a fall of between £2-£5 each, depending on the type of check; Basic and Standard checks will now cost £18 compared to their previous price of £23, while Enhanced and Enhanced with Barred List checks will be brought down from £40 to £38 each.

The charge for the Updated Service will remain the same at £13 per year while Enhanced and Enhanced with Barred List checks will still be free for volunteers.

Eric Robinson, CEO of DBS, stated when the alteration to rates was announced:

“We aim to offer good value for money to our customers and, after a review, we are pleased to be able to reduce the fees for DBS checks. The change in fees reinforces our commitment to providing high quality, reliable, consistent, timely, and accessible services.”

WSA DBS Checking Service

The cut makes the WSA’s already hugely competitively priced DBS Checking Service an even cheaper overall cost for all of its clients.

Administration fees are charged at £5.50 per check, while there is even a discounted rate for members.

The WSA offer DBS checks via our trading arm Vibrant Nation, providing a uniquely bilingual, online service – including a bilingual helpline – as part of our commitment to ensuring sport and physical activity is safe for everyone to enjoy.

The WSA does not exclusively provide this service to the sporting sector, however. We have numerous charities and third-sector organisations across the UK that utilise our DBS Checking Service, from which the revenue generated is invested back into services for sport and physical activity.

DBS checks are one (very important) part of an organisations wider safeguarding strategy, to be used alongside a host of other safeguarding prevention measures.

The WSA has a wide range of resources and courses that can aid your organisation in its safeguarding journey; you can find these on the safeguarding resources section on our website – here
